Reading Scholarships Available
The Florida Legislature this year created the Reading Scholarship Account program to help public school students in third through fifth grade who are struggling readers. This program offers parents access to education savings accounts, worth $500 each, to pay for part-time tutoring, summer and after-school literacy programs, instructional materials, and curriculum related to reading or literacy.
Applications are open now. Parents and guardians may apply online by first going to the Step Up for Students website here and clicking the “Apply Now” button. They will need their child’s FLEID number and will be asked to upload their child’s Florida Standards Assessment report when applying. Scholarships are being distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
