Two students on the floor working on a large map of the United States

Elementary gifted students throughout the district are engaged in a semester long national parks unit! It started with the book, The Camping Trip That Changed America, about Teddy Roosevelt and John Muir. Students enjoyed a VR visit to Grand Canyon National Park. They honed their map skills by marking parks on a giant map. After learning about Arches National Park they used the Pringles STEM Challenge to replicate the look. Students picked a park to research with both print and digital resources. Logic puzzles and Rubik’s Cubes rounded out the visits!
