A group of teachers holding up the new phonics reading books that will be used in the 2025-2026 school year

Exciting things are happening in Hardee! This year, our Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade teachers are implementing the UFLI Foundations Phonics Program.

UFLI (developed by the University of Florida Literacy Institute) is a research-based, explicit, and systematic phonics curriculum designed to give students the strong foundation they need to become confident, successful readers.

Research shows that students taught with UFLI phonics make extraordinary gains in reading achievement—with effect sizes ranging from 1.2 to 2.0 in pilot studies. That means students can achieve significant, measurable growth in a relatively short amount of time.

Congratulations to all of our K–2 teachers who have embraced this challenge with commitment, training, and positivity. Your hard work and willingness to learn a new program is already making an impact on the future of Hardee’s students.

Together, we are building strong readers—and strong futures!
